Oishi Park
The park is free and open at all hours. This day tour from Tokyo adds the coach there and back, a 20-minute photo stop at Oishi Park, and Oshino Hakkai, the Chureito Pagoda and a thatched-roof village on the same day.
The first choice
A Tour, or Go on Your Own?
Oishi Park is free and never closes: a lakeside park on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi with a flower path of about 350 m and Mt Fuji across the water (Fujikawaguchiko town tourism site, checked November 2026). So a tour sells the journey, not the park: the coach from Tokyo and back, and the other Fuji stops on the same day. The tour in the calendar below, Japan Visionary Tour’s Tokyo: Mt Fuji & Oishi Park & Lake Kawaguchi & Oshino Hakkai, shows from $49 on promotion, usually $82 (checked November 2026), and that price buys its plain option from Tokyo Station or Shinjuku. At Oishi Park itself it makes a 20-minute photo stop.
Tokyo: Mt Fuji & Oishi Park & Lake Kawaguchi & Oshino Hakkai
Tokyo Station at 8:00 am or Shinjuku at 8:30 am, then Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba, Lake Kawaguchi, 20 minutes at Oishi Park, Oshino Hakkai and the Chureito Pagoda. Lunch is not included in this option.

JRT Group gives Oishi Park 40 minutes and adds Lake Yamanaka and the Hikawa Clock Shop street. It leaves Tokyo Station North Exit at 7:30 am or Shinjuku West Exit at 8:00 am. Meals are not included.
See the tour →From Tokyo: Mount Fuji Private Tour With English Guide
A driver-guide collects you in Tokyo, Ueno or Yokohama; Route A lists 45 minutes at Oishi Park, and you can change the stops. The price is for the car: a sedan for up to 3, or a minivan for up to 7 at $352 on 24 November (checked November 2026).
See the tour →Prices, ratings and review counts from the listings (GetYourGuide checked November 2026). Operators price by date and season, so treat the figures as the shape of the market, not a quote.
Or go on your own. From Kawaguchiko Station the Kawaguchiko circuit bus (Red Line) takes about 30 minutes to the Natural Living Center stop at the park, and since 17 July 2026 a boat has crossed the lake from Funatsu Pier in about 15 minutes. How to get to Oishi Park has the fares, and the way from Tokyo to the lake.

How a Visit to Oishi Park Works
What the park gives you for nothing, how it looks in November, what the day tour adds, and where everything is.
Oishi Park in November

November is the month of the view rather than the flowers. The kochia, the round shrubs planted along the flower path, turn red from mid to late October and are golden-brown by early November, according to the Yamanashi Tourism Organization’s colour guide (information as of 21 October 2026), and the dates move with the weather. What November keeps is the lake and the mountain: walk the lakeside path, look south across Lake Kawaguchi, and if the cloud allows, Mt Fuji fills the far shore. No one can promise that view on a given day, and the tour operators say so too.
Autumn is also the park’s busiest season. On 13 October 2026 the town’s tourism site said that many visitors were coming to Oishi Park and that the roads and car parks round it were badly congested and jammed. It asked large buses to use temporary car parks and set down their passengers at designated places, asked visitors to allow plenty of time, and refused parking on the roadside or at nearby shops. If you drive, come early; if you come by tour coach, expect the driver to drop you where the town directs.
Oishi Park seasons has the rest of the year: the lavender, the kochia and the winter view.
What free entry gives you
The park is a strip of lawn and flower beds along the north shore, open at all hours with no ticket, and its car park is free too (Yamanashi Tourism Organization, checked November 2026). The flower path runs for about 350 m beside the water. Lavender flowers there in early summer, as the town’s tourism site puts it, and the kochia line the path in autumn. The Natural Living Center stands at the park, and the circuit bus stops in front of it.
There is no festival to plan round any more. The Kawaguchiko Herb Festival, which used to fill the park in summer, ended as an event with fiscal year 2025; the town says there will be no event with set dates, and that lavender can still be seen at Oishi Park and Yagizaki Park. Guides that still sell a June-to-July Herb Festival are out of date.
What the day tour adds

A coach from Tokyo, a guide who speaks English, and six other stops round the lakes. This is the day Japan Visionary Tour runs:
| Stop | Time there |
|---|---|
| Coach from Tokyo Station (8:00 am) or Shinjuku (8:30 am) | About 2 hours |
| Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba, a village of thatched houses | 1 hour |
| Lake Kawaguchi | 20 minutes |
| Oishi Park, a photo stop | 20 minutes |
| Oshino Hakkai, spring-fed ponds | 1 hour |
| Arakurayama Sengen Park, its shrine and the Chureito Pagoda | About 1 hour in all |
| Coach back to Tokyo | About 2 hours |
The order and the times can change with traffic and weather. Entry to Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is included while a promotion lasts; lunch, snacks and drinks are not, unless you book the karaage chicken or Koshu beef lunch-set option, which were $59 and $68 per adult on each date we checked between 12 November and 5 December 2026. The tour is not suitable for pregnant women, people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users.
Twenty minutes is enough for the photograph and a walk along part of the path, not for an afternoon. If the park is the point of your day, take a tour that gives it longer, like the 40 minutes on JRT Group's day, or go on your own. For a first day at the Fuji lakes from Tokyo, without a car and with Oishi Park as one stop among the classics, this tour is the simple way to do it.
The Oishi Park day trip from Tokyo sets the two departure points side by side, and what to do around Oishi Park covers the other stops.
Where it is

The park sits on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, at 2525-11 Oishi, Fujikawaguchiko, in Yamanashi. Kawaguchiko Station, where the trains and highway buses from Tokyo arrive, is on the south-east side of the lake; the Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway is about 15 minutes away by car (Yamanashi Tourism Organization). The Red Line circuit bus loops round the north shore, with Herb Hall and Oishi Park among its stops, and the boat crosses from Funatsu Pier. By road, the park is about 114 km from Tokyo Station and 107 km from Shinjuku, and the day tours spend about two hours on the coach each way.

Oishi Park: Questions
Whether it is free, the hours, the Fuji view, the kochia and the lavender, the bus and the boat, and how long the tours stop.
Yes. Entry is free at any hour, and so is the car park (Yamanashi Tourism Organization, checked November 2026). The town's tourism site lists the park as always open with no closed days. What costs money is getting there: the Kawaguchiko circuit bus, the boat from Funatsu Pier, a taxi, or a day tour from Tokyo. See is Oishi Park worth visiting.
Yes, when the mountain is clear of cloud: the park looks across Lake Kawaguchi to Mt Fuji. Nobody can promise the view on a given day. The day-tour operators say so too, and some guests on the day tours in early November 2026 wrote that cloud hid the mountain on their day. See Oishi Park seasons and the Fuji view.
Usually from mid to late October. The Yamanashi Tourism Organization's colour guide (information as of 21 October 2026) has the plants turning from late September to early October, the red peak in mid to late October, and golden-brown in early November, all moved by the weather. In summer they are green.
No. The Kawaguchiko Herb Festival ended as an event with fiscal year 2025, and there is no festival with set dates any more (Fujikawaguchiko Town). The town says lavender can still be seen at Oishi Park and Yagizaki Park; its tourism site puts the lavender in early summer.
By the Kawaguchiko circuit bus (Red Line), about 30 minutes to the Natural Living Center stop at the park. Single fares start at 180 yen, and a 1-day pass for the sightseeing buses is 1,500 yen for adults, sold on board too (Fujikyu, checked November 2026). A taxi takes about 15 minutes. See how to get to Oishi Park.
Yes. Since 17 July 2026 the Oishi Park Line has crossed Lake Kawaguchi from Funatsu Pier to the park in about 15 minutes, 1,000 yen one way for adults and 500 yen for children (Fuji Gokokisen). It runs all year but can be cancelled in bad weather, and the lake boats are closed on 1, 8, 15 and 22 December 2026 and on 19 and 26 January 2027.
It depends on the tour. Japan Visionary Tour's Tokyo day makes a 20-minute photo stop at the park, after 20 minutes at Lake Kawaguchi. JRT Group's day gives it 40 minutes, and the private day by Wonder land lists 45 minutes on its Route A. See the day trip from Tokyo.
At Tokyo Station at 8:00 am or in Shinjuku at 8:30 am, depending on the option you book. The Tokyo Station point is STAND T, 1F, 1-5-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda; the Shinjuku point is Tokyo Mode Gakuen, Cocoon Tower, 1-7-3 Nishi-Shinjuku. Searching "STAND T" or "Tokyo Mode Gakuen" on Google Maps finds each. It is about two hours by coach each way.
Not in the plain option. Lunch, snacks and drinks are yours to buy unless you book one of the two lunch-set options, a karaage chicken set or a Koshu beef set, which were $59 and $68 per adult on each date we checked between 12 November and 5 December 2026 (checked November 2026).
It can be, especially in autumn. On 13 October 2026 the town's tourism site said many visitors were coming to the park and that the roads and car parks round it were badly congested and jammed. It asked large buses to use temporary car parks and set down passengers at designated places, asked visitors to allow plenty of time, and refused parking on the roadside or at nearby shops.
