How to Get to Oishi Park

From Kawaguchiko Station, the Red Line bus takes about 30 minutes to Oishi Park; a boat crosses from Funatsu Pier in 15. Fares, the car park, and the day tour from Tokyo.

Updated November 2026

From Kawaguchiko Station, take the Kawaguchiko circuit bus (Red Line) to the Natural Living Center stop, about 30 minutes, and walk into the park (Fujikawaguchiko town tourism site, checked November 2026). Since 17 July 2026 there is also a boat, the Oishi Park Line, across the lake from Funatsu Pier in about 15 minutes. By car it is about 15 minutes from the Kawaguchiko IC, and the car park is free. From Tokyo, the simplest way there and back in a day is a coach tour.

From Kawaguchiko Station by bus

The Red Line is one of the three sightseeing bus routes Fujikyu runs from Kawaguchiko Station; it loops round the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, and Oishi Park and Herb Hall are among its stops. Get off at the Natural Living Center (Kawaguchiko Shizen Seikatsukan), which stands at the park. The ride takes about 30 minutes.

The passes are sold at the bus counter at Kawaguchiko Station and online, and the 1-day pass on board as well. The Green Line runs on to Lake Sai, the Aokigahara forest and the Narusawa Ice Cave if you are making a day of the lakes. A taxi from the station takes about 15 minutes (Yamanashi Tourism Organization).

Since Friday 17 July 2026, Fuji Gokokisen has run a shuttle boat, the Oishi Park Line, between Funatsu Pier on the south shore and Oishi Park:

  • About 15 minutes one way.
  • 1,000 yen one way for adults, 500 yen for children.
  • Runs all year, but can be cancelled in bad weather.
  • The lake boats are closed on Tuesdays 1, 8, 15 and 22 December 2026 and on Tuesdays 19 and 26 January 2027.

Sailing times change with the season, so read them at the pier or on the operator’s site on the day. The crossing is a good way to see the mountain from the water when the weather is clear, and it spares you the road round the lake on a busy autumn day.

By car

Oishi Park is about 15 minutes from the Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway, and its car park is free (Yamanashi Tourism Organization). In autumn it fills. On 13 October 2026 the town’s tourism site said many visitors were coming to the park and that the roads and car parks round it were badly congested and jammed; it asked visitors to allow plenty of time, and refused parking on the roadside or at nearby shops. Large buses are sent to a temporary car park and set down their passengers at a designated place, so a tour coach may not stop at the gate.

From Tokyo

Map from Tokyo to Oishi Park by road: Tokyo Station and Shinjuku's Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower in the east, the road west to Oishi Park on Lake Kawaguchi, Mt Fuji to the south of it, about 114 km by road from Tokyo Station and 107 km from Shinjuku
Tokyo to Oishi Park by road: about 114 km from Tokyo Station and 107 km from Shinjuku, the fastest car route. Mt Fuji stands south of the lake.

Oishi Park is about 114 km by road from Tokyo Station and 107 km from Shinjuku. On your own, you first reach Kawaguchiko Station, by highway bus or by train on the Fuji Kyuko Line, then take the Red Line round the lake. That works well if you stay a night at the lake. For a single day from Tokyo, a coach tour does the whole journey for you and adds the other Fuji stops.

The tour in the calendar below is Japan Visionary Tour’s Tokyo: Mt Fuji & Oishi Park & Lake Kawaguchi & Oshino Hakkai, from $49 on promotion, usually $82 (checked November 2026). It leaves Tokyo Station at 8:00 am and Shinjuku at 8:30 am, spends about two hours on the coach each way, and makes a 20-minute photo stop at Oishi Park among six other stops.
